Huskies Lost to Rollins, 9-8

BLOOMSBURG- The Bloomsburg University lacrosse team lost to Rollins 9-8 on Sunday afternoon.

The first half was a big defensive battle between the two teams as they went scoreless until the first goal was scored by Rollins 11 minutes into the half. Rollins would take a quick 2-0 lead but the Huskies would battle back to end the half at 3-0.

In the second half Rollins scored three quick goals. Tia Mazzie (Barto/Boyertown) scored a goal to make it 6-4, but Rollins would score again. The Huskies then played a player down and scored two goals by Kelsey Quigley (Lansdale/Methacton) and Kyle Matthews (Gilbertsville/Boyertown). Mazzie added another and Rollins retaliated with another goal. Matthews added one more to tie the score at 8-8 with 10:47 to play. The teams battled until the end, but Rollins scored with 35 seconds left to take the win at 9-8.

Quigley had three points with two goals and an assist, while Kim Springman (Downingtown/Bishop Shanahan) had three points with a goal and two assists. Mazzie and Matthews each had two goals and Allison Ziants (Winfield/Selinsgrove) had six saves.

Rollins Liz Connelly scored four goals for the Tars while Marissa Giannerini had two.

The Huskies will host there last regular season game against East Stroudsburg on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m.
